Farmers and young entrepreneurs in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District in the Central Region say they are adopting new skills in branding, design thinking and investor pitching after taking part in the Community-Based Entrepreneurship Training (CBET) programme.
The training, led by the KNUST Nutrition and Sustainable Agri-food Collaborative in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation (Nkabom Collaborative) aimed to help local agribusinesses expand market access and create value-added products.
Participants highlighted practical lessons. Mrs. Paschallina Dabirfaa said she learned to put customers at the centre of decision-making, validate business assumptions and keep disciplined records.
She added that pitch-deck coaching boosted her confidence to approach investors. Another participant, Sylvester Afranie, said branding emerged as the most important lesson. “Branding was very necessary, and I was going to make it set me apart,” he said.
Mrs. Faustina Agyarko, District Agric Officer, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, said the programme was equipping youth to adopt a business mindset across the agricultural value chain, prepare investor-ready business plans and create ventures that could generate jobs.
